Volunteering at the Bendigo District RSL – Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Bendigo RSL. We welcome new people to join our dedicated volunteer team at Bendigo.
Veteran Support – Veteran Support volunteers provide well-being support to veterans and their families and may undertake a number of roles including:
- Hospital & Home Visitation
- Veteran Transport
- Welfare Officers
- Pensions Officers
- Other Veterans Support Activities
Most veteran support roles require volunteers to undergo a National Police Check for Aged Care. Some Veterans Support roles such as Pensions Officers and Welfare Officers also require volunteers to undergo specialized accredited training to enable them to undertake their duties. At Bendigo RSL, we fully support interested volunteers to become accredited.
National Volunteer Week 2022
Congratulations to our Volunteer week participants and award recipients

Ann Merry
Welfare & Charitable Sub-Committee member
Ann has been an active and engaged member of the Welfare & Charitable Sub-Committee for 7 years. She has been especially involved in the Home and Hospital Visiting Program. During a period of considerable disruption owing to the pandemic, she has conducted many visits in her own private capacity bringing support and encouragement to many veterans and their families. She is a strong and informed member of the Sub-Committee providing many suggestions and recommendations for improvements to the work of the Sub-Committee and the Sub-Branch as a whole. Ann also helps out with veteran hospital visits and has help delivered Xmas presents to veterans. Ann is a highly motivated member who sets an excellent example to other members of the Sub-Committee, and she is to be commended for her efforts over many years.
Thank you Ann Merry we appreciate all your contributions and volunteer dedication.

Ian Ray
Funeral Officer
Over many years Ian has been instrumental in the ongoing support for veterans’ funerals. Over the last three years, he has been the single person who has conducted the funerals where possible due to COVID and the loss of other volunteers.
Ian has always been very professional in conducting veterans’ funeral and on many occasions has been asked to conduct funerals at very short notice. He is a credit to the BDRSL Sub-Branch and embodies the principles of “volunteering”. We strongly believe this needs to be acknowledged.
Thank you Ian, we appreciate all your contributions and volunteer dedication
Warm regards The Bendigo District RSL Sub- Branch committee.
